Two-Stage Liquid Ring Vacuum pump

  • Post category:Vacuum Pump

Product Introduction

The Series is a high-performance, two-stage liquid ring vacuum pump designed to achieve a significantly deeper and more stable vacuum than conventional single-stage models. By using two compression stages in series, the pump is engineered for demanding industrial processes like vacuum drying, distillation, and condenser exhausting, where reaching lower absolute pressures is critical for efficiency and product quality. Its traditional, robust baseplate-mounted design makes it a reliable workhorse for continuous, heavy-duty operation in the most challenging environments.

Design Philosophy & Construction

The pump builds upon the standard liquid ring principle by adding a second stage of compression to enhance its performance.

  • Two-Stage Compression: The core of the pump’s design is its series-connected pumping chambers. It is essentially two liquid ring pumps integrated into a single casing:
    1. Gas from the process is drawn into the first stage, where it is compressed by the first impeller’s liquid ring.
    2. Instead of being discharged to the atmosphere, this partially compressed gas is then channeled directly into the suction inlet of the second stage.
    3. The second stage impeller compresses the gas further and finally discharges it to the atmosphere. This two-stage process efficiently overcomes the limitations of a single-stage pump, allowing it to pull a deeper, more stable vacuum.
  • Robust Baseplate Design: Unlike the compact monoblock series, the features a traditional industrial configuration. The pump and motor are mounted as separate components on a common steel baseplate and are connected by a flexible shaft coupling. This design is known for its durability, ease of service for either the pump or motor, and flexibility in motor selection (e.g., using special explosion-proof or high-efficiency motors).

Key Features & Benefits

  • Deeper Vacuum Capability: The primary advantage of the series. Its two-stage design can reach significantly lower absolute pressures, making it essential for processes that require a high vacuum level.
  • Heavy-Duty Industrial Construction: The baseplate-mounted configuration is built for longevity and reliability in continuous, 24/7 operation.
  • Maintains All Liquid Ring Advantages: It retains the core benefits of the technology, including an unparalleled ability to handle wet, saturated, and corrosive gas streams, a cool and safe nearly isothermal operation, and oil-free vacuum generation.
  • High Pumping Stability: It offers a more stable performance at lower pressures compared to single-stage pumps.
  • Operational Flexibility: The separate motor and pump configuration allows for easier maintenance and the ability to choose specific motor types and brands to meet plant requirements.

Common Applications

The pump is the ideal choice for applications where the process benefits from or requires a deeper vacuum level.

  • Chemical & Pharmaceutical: High-vacuum distillation, vacuum drying of heat-sensitive powders and crystals, and solvent recovery processes.
  • Power Generation: Maintaining a high vacuum on steam turbine condensers (holding service), which is critical for maximizing plant efficiency.
  • Electrical Industry: Vacuum drying of insulation paper and cores for power transformers and capacitors.
  • Food Processing: Vacuum freeze-drying (lyophilization) of food and pharmaceuticals, and vacuum cooling of vegetables.
  • Industrial Processes: Vacuum impregnation of resins into wood or electrical windings, vacuum metallurgy, and central vacuum systems requiring a deeper plant-wide vacuum.
