Vertical Chemical Sump Pump

Product Introduction: The Series is a robust and reliable vertical sump pump engineered for the safe transfer of corrosive chemicals, acidic waste, and process fluids from tanks, pits, and containment sumps. Its intelligent design places the motor high above the mounting plate, keeping it completely isolated from the corrosive liquid and damaging fumes below. Available in a wide range of corrosion-resistant materials, including Polypropylene (PP), PVDF, and Stainless Steel (SS), the Series offers a dependable, low-maintenance solution for the most challenging chemical transfer applications.

Design Philosophy & Construction: The Series is built around a vertical, cantilevered shaft design to maximize reliability and minimize maintenance.

  • Top-Mounted Configuration: The entire pump is supported by a rigid mounting plate that rests on top of the tank or sump. The pump “wet end” (casing and impeller) is submerged in the liquid, while the drive motor remains safely outside.
  • Cantilevered Shaft (No Submerged Bearings): The heavy-duty pump shaft is supported entirely by bearings located in the motor pedestal, high above the fluid level. This advanced design eliminates the need for any submerged bushings or bearings, which are common points of failure. This allows the pump to run dry indefinitely without any risk of mechanical damage.
  • Sealless Design: Because the liquid level is below the motor pedestal and mounting plate, there is no need for a traditional, expensive mechanical seal to prevent leakage. This “sealless” approach dramatically reduces maintenance requirements and operating costs.
  • Vapor Protection: A specialized vapor seal or throttle bushing is installed where the shaft passes through the mounting plate. This prevents corrosive fumes from escaping the tank and attacking the motor, bearings, and the surrounding environment.
  • Material Options: The wetted parts are available in materials selected for broad chemical compatibility:
    • Thermoplastics (PP & PVDF): Ideal for highly corrosive acids, alkalis, and bleach.
    • Stainless Steel (304 & 316): Used for solvents, oils, caustics, and other fluids where metallic construction is preferred.

Key Features & Benefits:

  • Enhanced Motor Life: The elevated motor position ensures it is protected from spills, flooding, and corrosive vapors, leading to longer service life and greater reliability.
  • Indefinite Run-Dry Capability: The absence of submerged bearings or seals means the pump can run dry without any damage, making it perfect for sumps that may be pumped empty.
  • Zero Leakage: The sealless, top-mounted design eliminates the possibility of costly and hazardous leaks from worn-out mechanical seals.
  • Low Maintenance: With no submerged bearings to lubricate and no mechanical seals to replace, the series requires minimal routine maintenance.
  • Customizable Lengths: The pump’s immersion depth can be customized to fit tanks and sumps of various depths, ensuring a perfect fit for any application.

Common Applications:

The Series is the standard choice for transferring liquids out of containment vessels:

  • Industrial Wastewater Treatment: Pumping acidic or alkaline waste from collection pits and equalization tanks.
  • Metal Finishing & Plating: Transferring spent chemicals and rinse waters from process tanks.
  • Pollution Control Equipment: Recirculating scrubbing liquids in wet air scrubbers.
  • Chemical Processing: Emptying chemical storage tanks, spill containment sumps, and process vessels.
  • Electronics Manufacturing: Handling waste chemicals from etching and cleaning processes.
