Deep Sump Vertical Chemical Pump

Product Introduction: The Series is a heavy-duty vertical sump pump, constructed from corrosion-resistant plastics and designed specifically for deep tank and high-flow applications. Unlike cantilevered designs, the series features a bottom sleeve bearing that provides rigid support for the pump shaft. This critical design element minimizes vibration and allows for significantly greater immersion depths, making it the ideal choice for transferring aggressive chemicals from deep sumps, tall storage tanks, and recirculation systems where stability and performance are paramount.

Design Philosophy & Construction: The engineering of the series prioritizes stability for demanding, continuous-duty operations.

  • Submerged Bearing for Shaft Stability: The core of the design is a specialized sleeve bearing (or bushing) located at the bottom of the pump column, close to the impeller. This bearing provides a crucial support point for the shaft, ensuring it remains straight and runs true even at extended lengths. This robust design is essential for minimizing vibration and wear in deep sump installations.
  • Fluid-Lubricated Operation: The bottom sleeve bearing is lubricated and cooled by the fluid being pumped. This means the pump’s wet end must remain submerged during operation. This design is optimized for continuous-duty applications where a constant fluid level is maintained. (Note: This pump design cannot be run dry).
  • Corrosion-Resistant Materials: All wetted parts of the pump are constructed from chemically resistant thermoplastics like Polypropylene (PP) or PVDF. The submerged bearing itself is made from advanced, wear-resistant materials like Silicon Carbide, Ceramic, or alloy-filled PTFE to ensure a long service life in corrosive environments.
  • Vapor Protection: As with other vertical pumps, the motor is protected by a mounting plate and a vapor seal assembly, preventing corrosive fumes from reaching the drive end and bearings.

Key Features & Benefits:

  • Greater Immersion Depths: The shaft-stabilizing bottom bearing allows for pump column lengths far exceeding those of cantilevered designs, making it perfect for deep sumps and tanks.
  • Enhanced Stability and Durability: By minimizing shaft deflection and vibration, this design extends the operational life of the entire pump, especially in turbulent or continuous-duty conditions.
  • High-Flow Hydraulics: The stable design allows for higher rotational speeds and more aggressive impeller designs, enabling higher flow rates and discharge heads.
  • Superior Chemical Resistance: The all-plastic construction (PP or PVDF) ensures complete immunity to a wide range of corrosive and hazardous chemicals.
  • Optimized for Continuous Operation: This design is ideal for recirculation, agitation, or transfer applications where the pump is constantly running while submerged.

Common Applications:

The Series is the preferred solution for deep tank and continuous recirculation tasks:

  • Chemical Processing: Transfer and recirculation of process fluids in deep reactors and holding tanks.
  • Wastewater Treatment: Pumping from deep equalization pits, lift stations, and collection sumps.
  • Pollution Control: Continuously recirculating scrubbing liquids in tall flue gas scrubbers and air purifiers.
  • Metal Finishing: Circulating plating solutions and rinses in deep process tanks.
  • Large-Scale Aquaculture: Pumping and circulating water from deep sumps in life support systems.
