Product Introduction
This Series Three-Screw Pump is a high-performance, rotary positive displacement pump designed specifically for the smooth, quiet, and reliable handling of clean, lubricating fluids. It excels in applications involving oils, fuels, and other viscous liquids that do not contain abrasive solids. The pump’s core design produces an exceptionally smooth, pulseless flow, making it the ideal choice for high-pressure fuel injection, machinery lubrication, hydraulic systems, and oil transfer where low noise and high reliability are essential.
Design Philosophy & Construction
The operation of the pump is based on the precise interaction of three rotating screws.
- Intermeshing Rotors: The heart of the pump consists of a central power rotor (drive screw) and two surrounding idler rotors. The power rotor is connected to the motor and transmits torque, while the idler rotors are driven hydraulically by the fluid itself, turning in mesh with the power rotor.
- Axial Flow Principle: As the screws rotate, their precisely machined helical profiles form a series of sealed chambers within a close-fitting pump casing. These chambers trap the fluid at the suction inlet and move it axially and continuously toward the discharge outlet. This action is like a piston moving constantly in one direction, resulting in a completely smooth flow.
- Robust & Simple Build:
- The rotors are precision-ground from high-quality, hardened steel for long life and tight clearances.
- The pump casing is a rugged housing, often made of cast iron or steel, that contains the screws.
- A key design advantage is that only one shaft seal is required for the power rotor. The idler rotor shafts do not extend outside the pump casing.
Key Features & Benefits
- Completely Pulseless Flow: The pump’s signature feature is its perfectly smooth, linear output, free from the pressure pulsations and vibrations found in other pump designs. This protects downstream instruments and systems from fatigue and noise.
- Extremely Quiet Operation: Known as one of the quietest pump technologies available, the series operates with a very low noise profile, making it ideal for noise-sensitive environments like ships and power plants.
- High-Pressure & High-Speed Capability: The design is inherently balanced and robust, allowing it to generate high discharge pressures efficiently. It can also operate at high rotational speeds, allowing for direct coupling to standard electric motors.
- Exceptional Reliability & Long Service Life: With only three moving parts and idlers that are hydrodynamically supported by the pumped fluid itself, mechanical wear is minimal, leading to a very long, low-maintenance service life.
- High Volumetric Efficiency: The tight clearances between the rotors and the casing minimize internal slip, ensuring high efficiency even when pumping low-viscosity fluids.
Common Applications
The pump is the premier choice for any application involving the transfer or circulation of clean, lubricating liquids.
- Fuel Oil Service: Pumping and boosting pressure for diesel, heavy fuel oil (HFO), and bunker oils for burners, boilers, furnaces, and diesel engine injection.
- Machinery Lubrication: The workhorse for large-scale lube oil circulation systems for turbines, gearboxes, compressors, and large engines.
- Hydraulics & Power Units: Used for hydraulic elevators, machinery actuation, and as charge pumps in complex hydraulic circuits.
- Oil & Gas: Transfer of crude oil, bitumen, and asphalt (when heated to ensure fluidity and lubricating properties).
- General Industrial: Pumping transformer oils, machine tool coolants (neat oils), and any viscous fluid transfer task where reliability and smooth flow are critical.
