Sealless Canned Motor Chemical Pump

Product Introduction: The Series is a highly reliable, sealless centrifugal pump that offers zero-leakage performance in a remarkably compact design. As the second major type of hermetically sealed pump, it provides an alternative to magnetic drive technology, especially for applications involving volatile liquids or where space and low noise are critical. By integrating the motor and pump into a single sealed unit, the Series eliminates all dynamic seals, ensuring absolute containment of hazardous, toxic, and critical fluids.

Design Philosophy & Construction: A canned motor pump achieves its sealless design by placing the motor’s rotor and the pump’s impeller inside the sealed liquid environment.

  • Integrated Rotating Assembly: Unlike any other pump, the motor’s rotor (the spinning part) and the pump’s impeller are mounted on a single, shared shaft to form one combined rotating assembly.
  • The “Can”: This entire rotating assembly is enclosed within the pump casing. A thin, corrosion-resistant cylinder, known as the stator liner or “can”, is inserted into the motor’s stator (the stationary, wound part). This can completely isolates the motor’s electrical windings from the fluid being pumped.
  • Fluid Lubrication and Cooling: A small portion of the pumped fluid is purposefully circulated through the motor section, flowing within the can. This fluid acts as the lubricant for the internal bearings and cools the motor rotor, carrying away heat. This internal circulation is essential for the pump’s operation.

Key Features & Benefits:

  • 100% Leak-Proof Performance: The hermetically sealed construction offers absolute fluid containment, providing maximum safety and eliminating emissions.
  • Extremely Compact Footprint: With no external motor, bearings, or coupling, the canned motor pump is significantly shorter and more compact than any other pump type of equivalent power.
  • Very Low Noise and Vibration: The single, unified rotating assembly results in exceptionally quiet and smooth operation, ideal for noise-sensitive installations.
  • No Alignment Required: As a single unit, there is no need for motor and pump shaft alignment, simplifying installation and eliminating a common maintenance headache.
  • Ideal for Volatile Liquids: The design is highly effective at handling liquefied gases (e.g., LPG, ammonia) and liquids with low boiling points that are difficult to seal.

Common Applications:

Canned motor pumps are used in critical services where their unique benefits are paramount:

  • Petrochemical & Refining: Pumping light hydrocarbons, LPG, refrigerants, and other volatile or hazardous liquids.
  • Chemical Processing: Transferring toxic, flammable, or high-temperature fluids where absolute containment is essential.
  • Nuclear Industry: A standard choice for circulating radioactive or critical fluids in nuclear power generation.
  • High-Temperature Systems: Circulating hot thermal oils and other high-temperature process fluids.
  • Specialty OEM Equipment: Used in compact skid systems and equipment where space is extremely limited.
