Solid PVDF Chemical Centrifugal Pump

Product Introduction: The Series is a high-performance chemical process pump engineered from solid, thick-walled Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF). This advanced fluoropolymer construction provides an outstanding combination of broad chemical resistance, high mechanical strength, and exceptional purity. The Series is the ideal solution for pumping aggressive chemicals, high-purity fluids, and mild abrasives where metallic pumps would corrode and lower-grade plastics would fail. It offers a robust and reliable alternative to expensive alloy or lined pumps in a wide range of demanding industrial applications.

Design Philosophy & Construction: The design of the pump centers on leveraging the superior properties of PVDF.

  • Solid Molded Construction: Unlike lined pumps, the Series features wetted parts—the casing and impeller—that are precision-molded from solid, virgin PVDF. This method creates a homogenous, seamless structure that eliminates the risk of delamination and provides uniform corrosion resistance through the entire thickness of the material.
  • Structural Reinforcement: While the fluid path is pure PVDF, the pump’s exterior is reinforced with a metallic frame or armor. This design contains the PVDF components, allowing the pump to handle high pressures and resist piping loads, combining the strength of metal with the chemical inertness of a high-end polymer.
  • Optimized Sealing: The pump is equipped with a specialized mechanical seal chosen for its compatibility with aggressive chemicals. Common seal face materials include Silicon Carbide and Carbon, paired with chemically resistant elastomers such as FKM, EPDM, or Kalrez® (FFKM) to ensure a leak-free, safe operation.

Key Features & Benefits:

  • Excellent Chemical Resistance: PVDF is highly resistant to a wide range of aggressive chemicals, including strong acids, bases, halogens (chlorine, bromine), and organic solvents.
  • High Mechanical Strength & Toughness: Among thermoplastics, PVDF is noted for its exceptional rigidity, tensile strength, and abrasion resistance, making it suitable for handling slurries and withstanding system stresses.
  • High-Purity Service: Manufactured from pure, unpigmented PVDF, the pump has extremely low levels of leachable contaminants, making it an excellent choice for ultra-pure water (UPW), pharmaceutical, and food-grade applications.
  • Good Temperature Range: The Series can operate at higher temperatures than pumps made from standard plastics like Polypropylene (PP) or PVC, expanding its application window.
  • UV and Radiation Resistant: PVDF is inherently resistant to UV radiation, making it suitable for long-term outdoor installations without degradation or becoming brittle.

Common Applications:

The unique properties of the PVDF pump make it ideal for specific services:

  • Semiconductor and Electronics: Transferring ultra-pure water (UPW) and high-purity etching chemicals.
  • Chemical Production: Safely handling halogens and halogenated compounds like chlorine, bromine, and hydrochloric acid.
  • Water & Wastewater Treatment: Dosing sodium hypochlorite (bleach), ozone, and other powerful oxidizers.
  • Pharmaceutical Industry: Circulating purified water (WFI) and other process fluids where maintaining purity is critical.
  • Pulp and Paper: Pumping bleaching agents such as chlorine dioxide.
  • Aquariums and Aquaculture: Used in large-scale ozone water treatment and life support systems.
